BG deal fuels hopes for gas project

BG GROUP is on the cusp of signing up the first customer for LNG from coal-seam gas, in a sign that demand for the fuel is weathering the oil-price slump. The British company yesterday revealed an agreement that would allow China National Oil Corporation to buy half the gas from BG's Gladstone project and take equity in it. Budget allows for grant extension until December 31

The boost to the First Home Owners Grant has been extended in the Federal Budget, announced last night, after recent speculation it would end as originally planned on June 30. The boost will continue in its current form at the full $14,000 for eligible first home buyers for the purchase of existing properties and $21,000 for newly constructed properties until September 30... read news item »

News outlets around Australia reported yesterday that Kevin Rudd has suggested the Australian Government does not intend to extend the boost to the first home buyers grant past the June 30th deadline this year.
